Beyond Cuddle
What perspective is your relationship adding to you, is it valuable???
This question from my gangstar sister - Sarah Jakes Robert, inspired this blog topic - "Beyond Cuddle".
Can the person cultivate and nurture your gift? Can they fan your fire? Can that person stand your story of shame or GLORY? Would your glory intimidate the person from the chase of his glory which eventually leads to none of you chasing any at all.
I can remember when I was still at the University, I was serving as a Hall Pastor lol but I was a funky oneβΊ. So, it was my birthday and I got this gift from our then GS meaning General Secretary and Treasurer.
It was a book - "The Spirit Filled Family" by Tim and Beverly LAHAYE. I didn't read this book immediately maybe because I was expecting a bottle of perfume, not a book. Yea... Don't judge me biko. LOL
So, fast forward to some months or years later, I finally read the book and I was blown away. My God, that book was worth more than the most expensive perfume in the entire world.
There was a part in the book that narrated the history of two men- Max Jukes and Jonathan Edwards. One believed in a Christian marriage and upbringing and he married a lady who had the same mindset. The other fellow believed otherwise and married a lady who had the same perspective as his.
Hmmm! Down generations birthed by these men's decisions, you wouldn't believe the impact that it had on their children and children's children. Let me give you a brief break down.......
One thousand and twenty-six (1026) descendants of Max Jukes were studied according to the book and guess the discovery....
"Three hundred of them died prematurely. One hundred were sent to the penitentiary for an average of 13 years each. One hundred and ninety became public prostitutes, and there were 100 drunkards."
Now, Jonathan Edwards, who resided in the same state ( New York) as Max Jukes, believed in Christian training and married a woman of like mind. From this union, 729 descendants were studied and guess what unravelled....
"Three hundred became preachers of the gospel. There were 65 college professors. 13 University Presidents. 60 Authors of good books, three United States congressmen, and one Vice President of the United States"
Woow!!!! Right!!!!
After reading this book, I made up my mind that a drop-dead handsome looks, perfect teeth, kissable lips, strong big hands that can carry me, alluring accommodating smell, kind eyes, neatly cut hair and nails, perfect dress sense, romantic capability at 100 per cent plus lol is not all I need to say am game to go on this purpose, destiny and life ride with booboaz.
Don't get me wrong, I love a guy who can kiss me right even though I shouldn't be experimenting that now cos am not yet married LOL but hay, am just being honest right! God have mercy on me plus am changed Halleuyah! #prayerhands. There are great Guinness book of record kissers who don't know how to raise trailblazers and kingdom generals.
A legacy that command kingdoms is not built on cuddles alone. It is built by individuals who understand remarkable legacy and the mandate to engrave their name on the Lineage of Grace. They also understand how to explore the blessings of the physical and the supernatural realm to create a family whose reputation is a city set on a hill.
To an extent, rampant in our world today are couples whose union have failed to satisfy them even though they settled for an unparalleled physical attribute with respect to their spouses. But, can we pause to ask what these people are in search of.
A lot of times we underestimate the effectiveness of legacy and are consumed by settling for a standard that can only massage our ego and appease our temporal appetite.
I feel that we could get bored because we are yoked with partners who have no marital goals, vision or mission.
After a good sex, what is the "ten thousand" our marriage is destined to chase?
Let's not be so thirsty for a cuddle that we skip the part of the movie that requires the itemisation of the "ten thousand" before I DO!
"How could one man chase a thousand, or two put ten thousand to fight, unless their Rock had sold them unless the Lord had given them up? - Deuteronomy 32vs30
I Love You!
